What do you know that God is unaware of? What can you tell Him that He doesn't already know? In prayer, why do we so often feel compelled to fill the occasion with all of our own wonderful ideas? Instead, try this - get quiet, focus deeply on 1 or 2 issues the Holy Spirit brings to you, and simply savor those for a time. Linger quietly as God gazes lovingly on you - Hear Him. Don't rush - we do plenty of that. Wait/listen/linger/savor our God's presence as He makes you to lie down in that green pasture. Our God doesn't make neon signs to flash. He comes in the quiet whisper of the wind He has created. It's a conversation, not a monologue. Let Him speak. |
