I got back from the Abbey mid afternoon today. I was there since Wednesday morning. It was quiet, in nature, and full of communion with God. I got to finally get into the schedule He has been pressing on my heart to communion with Him continually in the day specifically in the morning, midday, and at night. Although, at the Abbey, I was with Him constantly and always am here at home as well; we all are. I only washed my dish that I used at each meal and all was very clean as everyone was hyperactive to clean up after themselves in the common area and there were no children. I have not been to the Abbey in about three years. I have been meaning to go and have been putting it off. In the past when I go, I often come back with this massive urge to become a nun. It has been an urge for a very long time. When I mentioned some of the things of the Abbey tonight to Sue, she asked if I wanted to stay. And I really did not. I was ready to come home, not because I could not handle the silence or that I did not enjoy the time. I wanted to give to others what God was giving me. I wanted to serve people. God had spoken truth to me; we had rebuked lies and vows together; we had fought Satan together; He revealed more and more of Him; He touched my heart with His presence. And in return I was eager to go home and serve people, to speak truth to people, to listen to their lives, to comfort them with the comfort that God has given me, to touch them with the words of Jesus, to battle Satan with them, to clean the kitchen. I cannot deny it. I have the gift of service and I really enjoy cleaning the Seneca House kitchen repeatedly. I got to do it tonight and it was a great joy to my heart to serve the house. So the biggest truth that I learned, spend time with God continually He is always there, and then go with your gifts and serve others with what you have learned. I guess this truly is the Jesus rhythm. Good works and solitude and rest with God. It is good to be home and I am glad that I was able to get away. |
