I have just been loving the Gospel of Mark at Vespers. I love the Gospels, but this one has just touched me and brought me to new awakening. I take notes faithfully at church each week and it has been great to go back and reflect with God what He has been teaching me over the last several weeks in the messages. I really enjoyed the message from Eric on 8/15/10 when He talked about our job as disciples being to preach repentance, fight evil, and heal people by praying over them and anointing them with oil. I have for a very long time carried a small vile of oil with me in my purse for anointing. In the past I have anointed and prayed over people and places with this oil, but I had stopped doing it for several years. There have been several occasions since this sermon even the night of the sermon where I have had the opportunity to anoint and pray over someone for the physical, emotional, spiritual or mental healing. It has been an amazing experience. What I have noticed is that God has answered our prayers, and I have felt less responsible for people. I often get into the belief system that I have to save people, but the truth of the matter is. I cannot and am unable to do this; only God saves. By telling people the truth of God’s word (preaching repentance and fighting evil) and combating the lies, and then anointing them with oil and praying for them while rebuking Satan and the lies. It turns them over to God for healing and repair and moves them totally out of my or their own hands. It is an amazing thing. I highly recommend it. Thanks Eric for the awesome sermon.
