Just thought you might like to read this. It's about me. And its about starving people. Which I was before I came to the Village. So there you go.
It's also about people who are literally starving. Which I have never been, and hope never to be.

Dear Friend

As you probably already know, this summer I am going to travel to Haiti to volunteer at a hospital there. I will be traveling to Dessalines on June first and will stay until the 17th. Dessalines Hospital is a relatively small hospital about 100 miles outside of Port-a-Prince associated with the Free Methodist Haiti Inland Mission.
Haiti is a place of desperate poverty. Recently it has been in the news as food riots have broken out. Stories of families eating dirt cookies to fill their stomachs have also been reported. The rising price of staple foods has left many Haitians with no way to feed their families. There is also a large need for basic medical care. People needing healthcare don’t have the money to go to the hospital and when they do, they are usually very critical and many die. The physical and financial needs in Haiti are overwhelming.
So I am going to Haiti to do what I can to help the people there. God has called me to this work, and has prepared the way before me to go. I will be staying with Gregg and Gail Ennis, and will be working at the Hospital. I do need your support. I need your prayer to support and sustain me in this journey. I also need to raise 1000 dollars to fund this trip. I would like to take more than that to provide for the needs of more people there. So please consider praying for me and giving to this work.

Thank you

David

Prayer Requests
1. Pray that the daily, physical needs of the Haitian people will be met.
2. Pray no one will be hurt during the protests that are happening due to the rise in food prices and the high cost of living.
3. Pray for the financial needs of the Dessalines Hospital as they continue to provide healthcare to an indigent people.
4. Pray for Adrienne, my wife, as she stays here, that she will have peace and confidence in my safety.
5. Pray that I will be able to provide quality care to patients there.
6. Pray for the sustaining power of Christ in me as I carry out his work.

Giving

To give money to this work, send your donation to:
David Crawford
3119 Bolgos Circle
Ann Arbor, MI 48105

Any gifts over and above the cost of the trip I will give to the mission there to distribute to the leaders of the Haitian church to care for the poor and broken.

Thanks for posting about this, David. I'll be praying for you, and at this point, especially that God will provide way more money than the base amount so you can help relieve an extra amount of suffering with your trip. Also that He'll help you to process the whole thing and reintegrate your thinking as you go and return. Plus the other stuff you said.
