Subject: Morning Walk
It is beautiful to walk early in the morning.
Sweet is the freedom to go nowhere,
while children wait at the bus-stop
and grown-ups drive to work.
The morning sun casts long shadows
behind small pebbles on the sidewalk,
and ants seem to be three times their size
this time of day.
Every sunbathed surface
competes to burn their image into my eyes.
But today,
in the diffused light of the cloudy sky,
it is the truly bright colors that shine.
Delicate blossoms,
dotted with tiny drops of water
stand out with their beauty,
their colors intesified by the rain.
Even the leaves look more alive,
and wild plants seem to have sprung up over night.
While the bright desert sun
seems to be like God's piercing truth,
exposing every crack,
the gentle light of the overcast sky
feels more like God's loving gaze
through the shadow of His lowered eyelashes,
all the while pouring life-giving water
in tender drops on my parched life... |
