Subject: I wonder

I wonder if churches could be compared to schools? Don’t the major denomination associations seem to have the same function as the various school districts? Could it be that churches tend to specialize in a certain level of maturity in Christ (some reaching mostly baby Christians, others growing Christians and others yet maturing Christians, same like our schools specialize in pre-school age children, elementary school children, middle school students and then high schoolers)? Is it conceivable that a church can take a learning and growing Christian only so far, until he needs to move on to a different kind of church, just as growing children go from one level of learning institution to the next? Is it safe to assume that the songs and the message correspond to the level of learning, like learning tools? Could some of those songs just be happy ditties, suitable for crawling up into the Father’s lap to play pat-a-cake? Now then, does a church have to choose a level to specialize in or can a single church meet individuals at each and every level (like the one-classroom schools of days gone by, or like the occasional mini charter school today)? I think it can and I think it’s being done. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that’s what I see us doing.
