Subject: Even without Benji

Reading Benji's (another) story leads me to believe that maybe there are some who doubt the human capacity for infinite stupidity. Working for the U.S.Army in Germany I collected these gems ... One stunningly beautiful young woman came to my office right about this time of year. She shared with me how much she liked Thanksgiving and what a wonderful tradition it held. Having observed that I was a "local national" she inquired how my family celebrated Thanksgiving, 'after all, it is a holiday observed around the world, isn't it? - Not like the American national holiday of Christmas.' Unbelievable. Another time a young First Lieutenant came with his visiting mother to my office. My - she was so proud of her strapping officer son in his uniform. She was, however, a bit worried. She confided that she did not really want to come to Germany until the war was over. (sigh) Take heart, Benji, and all of you who work in customer servic-y jobs, the annoyance of the present will be entertaining past in the future ... or something like that.
