Hey guys,
I am bout to head to work, but I remembered I wanted to drop a note here asking for some prayer and encouragement. This is good stuff though.
For those that didn't know I have never been back to school since graduating from HS back in '95. I have often discussed the possibility of going back but have never committed to anything. Well around the summertime I made a choice to go ahead and go back to school and to major in Social Work. I will get my associates and then will transfer over to ASU to finish up the bachelors. I want to go for my masters at some point as well, not sure quite how long that will take.
With all that said the time has finally come for me to start classes. Today my semester begins. I will be taking Writing 101 as an online course and will be taking Popular Music in America as a fine arts credit which I will need. As I write this, the morning of, I am filled with a mix of excitement and the all to familiar feeling of being overwhelmed. The workload for the writing class is going to be high, but with God's help I think I shall do well.
So yeah, prayer, advice, encouragement, whatever you feel led to share with me I'll gladly accept. I am in this for the long haul.

The nice thing about going back to school is that you usually know what you want and you don't have the same pressure you had when parents were concerned about your grades. I loved returning to school later in life since it gave me an opportunity to explore and learn what I wanted to learn. I knew myself better and knew what I liked.
Enjoy your class. If you fail just take another class that you might enjoy. There is no pressure from outside, only the pressure you put on yourself. So choose to have fun.

Rod,
Thanks for checking in. Your advice to enjoy myself is great, something I should remind myself to do in all that I do. One of the things I wish I was better at and that I am working on improving is to enjoy journeys more than worrying about how quickly I can reach destinations.
