Where we are is that we all agreed that the testing they've done is insufficient. It is my contention, although I didn't make this point explicitly that it is inaccurate since it is belied by the observational data from her teachers on her skills and since according to the new testing she has made 12.7 grade levels of improvement in 17 months. One of the subtests had her writing on a post-grad level, but her composite score was brought down because she only spells on a fourth grade level. I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I was, but, they've agreed to do a Test of Written Language, a speech and language eval, and two other tests with which I was not familiar. So, I suppose it is good news and bad news. The good news is that before we ever opened our mouths they agreed that she qualified for an IEP. The bad news is that they wanted to do one only for reading which is actually her strongest academic area. The meeting was cordial, but really, they had not done what they needed to do in order for us to make intelligent decisions. So, we've got another go round in a month...
