As if there aren't enough movies going on this weekend... My sister Diane gave me the heads-up that "To Kill a Mockingbird" will playing at The Loft (north side of Speedway, east of Country Club) this Saturday (tomorrow) at 10 a.m. Only 3 bucks! If you can, look for us inside the theater at 10.
This is the brilliant 1962 film adaptation of Harper Lee's powerful novel. It's a story of innocence, trust, father-love, and integrity. It's a story of racial injustice in the U.S., and about God perceivable there somehow underneath the godless mess. Therefore, it is certainly not a comedy, although it ends on a very hopeful note. Come see Gregory Peck in one of his most important roles. (He ended up naming his daughter after the novelist Harper Lee.) You will also see a young actor named Robert Duvall playing the quiet, enigmatic Boo Radley :-) |
