As I was working on the Village List, I realized that 21 of the Village adults live with other Villagers. In addition to this, 8 more adult Villagers have chosen to live in the same neighborhood. Hmmm.... That ends up being over half our church living in some kind of intentional community.

Just a random thought.

Julie

So we were just talking about intentional communities at dinner. Have you read the book Irresistable Revolution? It talks a lot about intentional communities. Anyway, the Village is an incredible model of not only what it looks like to have a community...but provides the experience for those who never imagined what that would look like. So much of what I believe and what I am passionate about stems from what we experienced in with you all. And so much of what we hope for our future is modeled after those experiences.
So yeah, that's really cool.

This has nothing to do with unity. I just liked the way the two words looked and sounded together. Make of it what you will.

Chris and I were just having our third hamburger at the party this evening, and reading Julie's blog. We initially came to the conclusion that the Village cannot be considered 'typical' when looking at community living...in Chris's words: "there ain't a typical bone in our collective bodies." However, upon reflection, I realized how mundanely and irrepressibly typical I truly am...perhaps the only one among us (which Chris vehemently disclaims)...and hence I must further conclude that, if I can do it, anyone can.

You know it's true.
