KeithB: Synthetic diamond!!! (9/3/09)
Tuesday my hand surgeon replaced a broken plastic knuckle implanted ~15 years ago in the index finger of my left hand with a synthetic diamond polycarbonate joint. I've been grateful for the care and support people have given me. It's interesting trying to let people take care of me; I'm not very good at it. I think of help as something to receive if I really NEED it. And my definition of need is pretty extreme. So the idea of being cared for where people are interested in what I WANT as much as what I need stretches me. I'm trying to just enjoy it and feel the love that is present there.

But alas, typing one-handed is tedious so that's all I have to say except, isn't that diamond joint really cool looking?

Thanks for the visual aid. I just emailed you along w/some others and asked how you were, but reading here is good enough...don't try to text with your bandaged hand, that's for sure!
